The New 2020: what is it like?
The New Year 2020 is a leap year of the white metallic rat and the rat is the first sign of the Oriental calendar according to which metal embodies such qualities as stubbornness, persistence, determination, while the white colour symbolizes purity, sincerity and good intentions.
As if the symbol of the year shows that goals should be reached in an honest way, environment should be carefully taken after and the people around are to be treated with respect.
According to the Indian legend the rat gives a ride to Ganesha God – the patron of knowledge and wisdom. In Japan the rat is the symbol of happiness, while in China it is a national hero as it was the rat that once brought rice to the Chinese thus having saved them from hunger.
The Chinese zodiac signs have their own lucky colours, numbers and flowers that bring either good or bad luck. This year the lucky numbers are 2, 3 and all the figures containing these numbers. The lucky colours are blue, golden and green. The lucky flowers are lilies and African violets.
Also the Chinese have such a notion as the Benmingnian or the Destiny Year. 2020 will be the Benmingnian for the people who were born in the year of Rat. According to Oriental beliefs it personifies changes, trials and victories.
